Migraines and tension headaches can be very debilitating. These migraines can be caused by many things. Make sure you have had a physician examine you and perform any tests necessary to rule out any serious systemic problems. If all tests including MRIs, Cat Scans, etc have come back negative your jaw would be the next place to examine.
Headaches
are one of the most common symptoms of a TMJ (temporomandibular joint) problem. 90% of all headaches are Tension headaches and the TMJ headache is a tension type of headache. It is often described as a migraine headache.
Unfortunately, the most common treatment for headaches and migraines is medication. Medications are masking the symptoms and not treating the problem in many cases.the are some other treatments that were in the news recently. One of the treatments was selectively removing muscles in the forehead, the neck area and the temples to relieve the pain. I would not suggest this type of surgery. Another treatment was implanting a electronic device that was capable of stimulating the nerves at the base of the neck through wires running up your spine, another surgery I would not advise. I would try any non-surgical method including contacting a neuromuscular dentist to examine your bite and determine if the headaches are caused by your bite. For more information visit:
